Message settings
The message settings affect the sending, receiving and viewing of messages.
Settings for text and e-mail messages
1. Press

2. If more than one message profile set is supported by your SIM card, select the
set you want to change.
• Select
Message centre number
to save the phone number of the message
centre that is required for sending text messages. You can receive this
number from your service provider.

Message validity
to select the length of time for which the network
should attempt to deliver your message.

to save a default
number for sending messages for this profile.

to ask the network to send delivery reports for your
messages (network service).

Use GPRS
to set GPRS as the preferred SMS bearer where available.

Reply via same centre
to allow the recipient of your message to send
you a reply via your message centre (network service).
• Select
Rename sending profile
to change the name of the selected message
profile. The message profile sets are only displayed if your SIM card
supports more than one set.
Overwrite settings
When the text message memory is full, the phone cannot receive or send any new
messages. However, you can set the phone to automatically replace old text
messages in the
Inbox
and
Sent items
folders with the new ones.

Incoming multimedia messages
(shown only if you have allowed multimedia
reception above). Select
Retrieve
to set the phone to automatically fetch newly
received multimedia messages. Select
Reject
to reject multimedia messages
and have the messaging centre delete the messages.

Connection settings
. Define WAP connection settings for retrieving
multimedia messages. Activate the set where you want to save the connection
settings and then edit the settings. Contact your network operator or service
provider for more information.

. You can allow or deny advertisments to be sent to you via MMS
advertisement services.
To receive the multimedia connection settings as a text message
You may receive the service settings as a text message from the network operator
or service provider that offers the WAP service that you want to use (network
service). For more information, contact your network operator or service provider.
